Information for Reporting Outages

Both offices transfer phone calls to employees' homes for outage handling after hours. Please be aware that our employee dispatchers only have one phone at home for their JEC outage use. During times of storm or large line outages, many calls are received. You may get busy signals for an extended period of time while the employee on call talks with other members reporting their outage. Please be patient. If you notice electricity off all around you, the outage probably has already been reported. When you notice electricity restored and yours is still off or if the electricity is off for an extended period of time, then try to call the office again. 

There is one other problem we have detected.  During business hours, you may receive a call from either office for many reasons, including verifying outage restoration. Your caller ID may report one of our "roll-over" phone numbers. These lines do not forward to our employees' homes for outage reporting. If you try to call on one of those numbers to report your outage after hours, it will ring at the empty office.  Use only the main numbers as listed below. 

Reporting Outages

If you experience an outage of electricity or voltage problems that need immediate attention, please call our dispatchers for service personnel to make repairs. In the Edna area, call 361 771-4400 and in the Bay City area, call 979 245-3029. Our dispatchers do not have access to information other than your location and meter data. For any other repairs or information including yard lights, billing questions, etc., please call our office (same numbers) during business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and additionally at the Bay City office, 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturdays). 

Bill Payment Options



Bill payments may be made at either office during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday) and additionally at the Bay City office on Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Night drop boxes are located at both offices for after hours payments. The JEC web site is available 24 hours a day to submit a payment
using your Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card. 
(A usage fee is added to the amount of your charge The usage fee is 2.45% of the total bill).


Bank/Credit Card Drafts

Bank drafts and credit card drafts are available. Come by either office and sign the appropriate authorization forms, then around the 10th of each month your bank or credit card will be drafted. You should receive a copy of your electric bill prior to the 10th in order for you to know the amount of each draft.


Levelized Billing

This billing option allows you to pay a monthly bill equal to the average of the previous 12 months' bills. Your bill will not jump up or down drastically, which allows budgeting for your electric bill.  Prior to beginning this billing option, your account must be paid in full. Then each bill must be paid by the 15th of the month. If payment is not made on time, the total bill becomes due, the member will be removed from this billing option, and the account will be subject to disconnect.
